
Leesburg's Bill Clanton wins a playoff to earn the third and final qualifying spot for the United States Golf Association's Senior Amateur.
Doublegate Country Club hosted the qualifying tournament that Doublegate pro Ed Everett says is the first USGA event the course has hosted.
Clanton shot a 73 and finished tied for 3rd with John Miller from Bloomington, Indiana.
The two had a playoff for the final spot and Clanton wins the playoffs.
Don Marsh from Johns Creek wins the qualifying tournament with a 71 and Steve Golliher from Knoxville, Tennessee finishes second with a 72.
The United States Senior Amateur is September 29-October 4 in West Caldwell, New Jersey.
