A popular Lee County convenience store is closing its doors just weeks after it's owners died in a murder-suicide.

A and J Foodmart on U.S. 19 is having a going out of business sale. It's in honor of owner Hemang Patel.

He and his wife Alpa were found by their son July 9th at their North Carolina home suffering from fatal gunshot wounds.

Store employees say the closure is sad ending to a tragic event.  "They can't believe we're shutting down this is such a convenient spot and people are going to miss coming here. People are still coming in asking, they're very missed,"  said  .

North Carolina authorities have still not released which Patel they believed fired the gun.

Family members were going to buy the store but said the cost was too much. It's expected to close in the next two weeks.
