PDA moves to make Industrial Park more attractive

Posted: Updated:

The Albany Dougherty Payroll Development Authority sent a plan to their engineers to make changes to Industrial Park located on Highway 82.

Their focus is trying to enhance the park, change the format and overall look. The changes include having several different lot sizes for potential developers.

The board believes this will give them more options when trying to sale this property.

"I like the idea that we have the flexibility to bring in a large industry or a small one. I think you would also be able to have a little input into how the design would be," said Mayor Dorothy Hubbard.

Board members say this will attract more businesses to the area.

112 new jobs are coming to Albany at the beginning of next year, when Power Sports Plus moves their internet sales division to Albany.

The company, which sells out door equipment, will be re-locate to 1113 Seminole Lane. The Albany Dougherty Payroll Authority discussed keeping the current tax base in place for the company.

They also discussed forgoing initial taxes, as long as the company commits to hiring a minimum number of people.

"If you're abating a certain amount of money and you're supposed to have 112 jobs. If you have 100 jobs that number goes down. If you have 50 jobs that number goes down. It's important that the taxpayer is receiving full benefits for the dollars that are being spent," said Jeff Sinyard, Dougherty County Commission Chairman.
