Albany State junior Nathan Hoyte ran away with an award in more ways than one. Hoyte has been named the SIAC offensive player of the week for his domination against North Greenville last Saturday.
Hoyte rushed for 194 yards on 19 carries in the Golden Ram's 24-12 victory over North Greenville. The junior averaged over 10 yards per carry in the game and gave all the credit to his offensive line and teammates. Hoyte wasn't even sure how well he was running until long after the game was over.
Hoyte said "You never know how the game is going to go so I didn't know I was going to have a big game. It was kind of just reading and taking each play at a time and that's how the game ended up."
Head coach Mike White said "Nate is a worker. You don't hear him but you see him when he gets the football. He works hard in the off season. If you look at him you can tell he had a great off season training but he does what it takes on the field and he was a big plus for us Saturday."
ASU moved up from 22 to 16 in the latest Division II coaches poll, they'll play at Wingate on Saturday
