FLAUNT kicks off with yarn bombing

Posted: Updated:

THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - One south Georgia city's downtown area is a getting a fun makeover.

To kick off Thomasville's Flaunt 2012, 75 local fiber artists are "yarn bombing" trees, benches, and statues on Broad Street.

Flaunt is an art walk and exhibition featuring paintings, jewelry, and sculptures created from recycled or upcycled materials.

"Everybody understands that we need to recycle. We need to reduce. We need to reuse. And what better way than by using art to artistically bring home that message. We have challenged these artists to create a dress using upcycled materials and they are incredible," said TCA Marketing Director Bonnie Hayes.

The exhibition begins Friday night and runs through September 29th.
