
The Westover Patriots showed just why they may be a force to be reckoned with after beating Tift County 33-29 at Hugh Mills Stadium. The Blue Devils had a narrow 14-13 lead at halftime.
The Patriots came out in the second half and capped off a long drive with a T.J Wester quarterback sneak for the touchdown. After a failed two point conversion, Westover had a 19-13 lead. Tift County responded on the ensuing possession. Ryan Wedgeworth found his tight end Beau Bergeron in the end zone minutes later to make score 20-19 after a blocked PAT.
The game remained close in the 4th quarter with Westover getting the four point win. Tift County plays at Houston Co. on September 7th. Westover will host Jonesboro on the 7th.
