Crime is rare in the Hidden Lakes community, but people who live there are worried.
"It's just not safe out here anymore, it's not just in the city streets, it's in the outskirts of Albany, it's everywhere," says victim Steve McGowan.
McGowan was one of four people whose vehicle was broken into.
"I guess about 2 am they had four break-ins out here at hidden lakes and I believe four or five over there at Stone bridge. They're breaking into the windows. I guess they're using a blanket or something and hitting the door because there's not a lot of glass on the ground," says McGowan.
But what connects the break-ins isn't the neighborhood, but what was taken from the cars.
"They just stole the firearm. They didn't take my camera, my other gun bag, any of my supplies for my vending, nothing," McGowan says.
He says he had other valuable things in the car but they only wanted the the firearm.
"They could have gotten 3 times the value of the camera but they just left it, they wanted the gun."
And now he's picking up the pieces and says he'll be ready if they decide to come back.
"We're going to set up more lasers out here and I'm probably going to invest probably six or seven thousand more dollars in security, get a different alarm for my vehicle and get a gun safe in, I've discovered those, that will help me a lot hopefully."
Dougherty County police say they are still investigating the string of burglaries and they warn everyone to take extra precaution.
