TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

Gas prices continue to rise in South Georgia, though they are still lower than the state average.

In our area we're paying around three dollars and 75 cents per gallon right now.

The state average is ten cents higher than that. Hurricane Isaac is partially responsible for higher prices at the pump.

One Tifton man tells us he has to be selective about when he goes to see his family in North Georgia.

"I can hardly afford to drive. Being a college student, when I try to fill up 26 gallons worth of gas just to go back home or something on the weekend, I spend well over $200 just to get there and back," said Jake Weaver, Driver.

The national average for a gallon of gas continues to rise as well. It has gone up nearly 40 cents since the beginning of July.
