A joint law enforcement news conference, regarding the weekend homicide and shootings that occurred in East Albany, will be held Friday morning at the Law Enforcement Center at 10:00.

APD, the Sheriff, the D. A., and DCSS are responding to tension in the community in the wake of the fatal shooting of the leader of the Southside Bloods, 24-year-old Dontavious Luke.

Luke was shot and killed early Sunday at Shackleford Shopping Center, and rumors of gang retaliation has swirled throughout the week.

Albany Police Chief John Proctor, Dougherty Co. School Superintendent Dr. Joshua Murfree, D. A. Greg Edwards, DCSS Police Chief Troy Conley, and Dougherty Co. Sheriff Kevin Sproul are expected to be there to answer questions.
