Congressman Sanford Bishop released his tax returns from the last ten years, after his opponent asked him too.
His opponent, Republican John House, that demanded Bishop release his tax returns from the last 20 years, because he believes a congressman should be transparent with all issues that deal with money.
Bishop, who files separately from his wife Vivian, released his tax returns from the last ten years.
"I thought it was appropriate why inquirers might want to know what my tax returns look like, and I thought in the interest of transparency and openness we would be delighted to do that," Bishop said.
Bishop says over those ten years on average he pays a 28% effective tax rate, and has given ten percent of his income to charities.
