Albany State has picked a starting quarterback for Saturday's season opener against North Greenville.
Head coach Mike White says David Kooi will start Saturday's game but Keenan Grissett will likely play.
Kooi gets the nod after Grissett missed practice last week with back spasms.
Grissett was on the field today but coach White says Kooi looked impressive with the extra reps he got in practice.
The transfer for Florida Atlantic joined the ASU squad less than a month ago and he and the coaching staff believes he will get even better as he continues to learn the offense.
David Kooi said. "Coming from a different offense. Coming here and having to learn an offense in two weeks. The connection with your receivers as I am use to throwing with them during the summer.
Head coach Mike White said. "The more snaps he takes the better he is going to be. That is going to be true with our whole team, our defense and our offense. The more snaps we have the better we are going to be."
Albany State hosts North Greenville at 7:00 p.m. Saturday at the ASU Coliseum.
