VSU's Reid out for season with knee injury

When former Lowndes star Greg Reid announced he was transferring to Valdosta State, It had Blazer fans cheering with the thought of the former FSU standout would help lead VSU to another Division II national championship. 

The Blazers still have a team that is capable of playing in Florence in December.

They just won't have Greg Reid.

Reid is out for the year with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee.

The injury happened in a scrimmage Friday but the severity wasn't known until a doctor's exam on Tuesday.The news is a big blow for Greg Reid who was wanting to show NFL teams that his character issues were behind him after his dismissal from the FSU team.

And at VSU fan day, Blazer fans let Greg Reid know he had their support in his turnaround.

 VSU head coach David Dean said. "I think that has probably been the most disappointing thing is all the people that are saddened now that they don't have the opportunity to watch him play."

8th ranked Valdosta State opens at Saginaw Valley State at 7:00 p.m. Saturday in University Center, Michigan.
