THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

Volunteers from the Thomasville Masonic Lodge #369 are creating identification kits for parents in case they are ever needed.

The kits contain a description, photo, voice imprint, fingerprints, and sample DNA that can be used to positively identify the child in an emergency.

"If a kid is not found in the first six hours, it's about an 80 percent chance that they're going to be found dead. So this is comparable with Amber Alert," said 2nd District Director Irvin Horn.

Wednesday they were at The Hand In Hand Primary School, and will visit other schools later.

Because the Freemasons of Georgia are concerned about the safety and welfare of Georgia's children, they are offering this free service to all parents and legal guardians.

There is no charge or obligation for parents to have their children participate in the program, which can interface with the National Amber Alert System.

All of the information about the child is erased from their computers after the individual CD is created. Over 61,000 kits were created last year in Georgia.
