Three community programs that support the health and wellness of south Georgians got a boost Tuesday afternoon.

The United Way of Southwest Georgia handed out a total of $14,000 to support Special Olympics, RSVP Health and Wellness Fairs, and Second Harvest Food Bank's Kid's Cafe.

United Way CEO Lakisha Bryant said, "All of these programs are linked to a health and wellness component, so all of their consumers as well as the work they're doing in the community can be tied back to health and wellness which is one of the four community impact areas for us."

The money comes from a grant provided by Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital and Phoebe Community Visions.
