CUTHBERT, GA (WALB) -
Hair weaves and gasoline. That's what an employee at Church's Chicken is accused of buying with a credit card stolen from a woman who came through the drive thru.
Police say the thief knew the woman she stole from. We have surveillance video of it all going down.
Take a look at this surveillance video. It shows 39 year old Valissa Burnett Singh swiping a credit card for a drive thru purchase at Church's Chicken.
Elaine Stanley was the woman buying food from Singh but she pulled away before getting her card back.
"If I had realized that I did not get my card back at that time, I wouldn't have thought anything about it, I would have just been, oh well Valissa will call me and say hey Ms Elaine you left your card here," says Elaine Stanley, Credit Card Theft Victim.
After all, the two women had a working repore with each other. But Singh didn't call. Instead police say she went on a shopping spree, buying about $170 worth of synthetic hair and gasoline, among other things.
"At the village petlet, I do believe there was some gasoline that was purchased, and over at Sunny's which is a hair place, she bought some hair there, some synthetic hair, weave," says Chief Bobby Wiggins, Cuthbert Police.
Stanley didn't realize her card was missing until 4 days later when her credit card statement came in the mail. She saw the suspicious charges and called the cops.
"When I told my husband that I was going to make a report with the police department, he said, oh that small amount of money, they aren't going to do anything about it, and i said I don't really care, who ever messes with my credit card, better know they better not mess with me, I am going to report it anyway," says Stanley.
Singh was arrested and charged with theft. All of the money has been returned to the credit card company.
Singh will appear before a judge in November. Church's Chicken paid the one thousand dollar bond to get her out of jail and repaid the credit card company.
