NORMAN PARK, GA (WALB) -

The deadline is approaching for Agricultural businesses to apply for grants to help them turn raw products into more valuable items.

The USDA offers the value-added grants.

Norman Park-based Lauri Jo's Southern style canning has taken advantage of the grants.

Owner Lauri Jo Bennett used the money to help market her products. She says it helped expand her business' footprint.

"All of the people with USDA have just been super to help," Bennett said. "That's what their job is. They are out to help businesses to grow and to stay in business."

She recommends other small businesses apply for the grant. The deadline to do so is October 15th.
