MCLB Albany's activated its base emergency operations center to house several thousand military evacuees.
Nearly five thousand Marines and Sailors from the Naval Air Station Pensacola, Fla., will arrive here on buses tonight to take shelter from Isaac.
The base will act as a temporary home for around 48 hundred Marines and Sailors from the Naval Air Station in Pensacola.
Tropical Storm Isaac is expected to hit Mississippi and Louisiana the hardest but Pensacola will still get heavy wind and rain.
Base officials say they're glad they could be a safe haven for their fellow Marines.
Hundreds of Marines from Pensacola were housed at MCLB in 2004 and 2005 after storms threatened Florida.
MCLB Albany was prepared to provide shelter to nearly 10,000 marines from Paris Island, South Carolina during Hurricane Hannah in 2008. But they didn't have to evacuate.

This evening, buses carrying Marines and Sailors from the Naval Air Station Pensacola, Fla., are expected to arrive here to escape the threat of Tropical Storm Isaac's arrival.
Approximately 4,800 personnel are expected to be evacuated here. Due to the threat of Tropical Storm Isaac's impending landfall between the panhandle of Florida and the Louisiana Gulf Coast, the decision was made Sunday evening for the Pensacola personnel to evacuate.
MCLB Albany has activated its base Emergency Operations Center, and will closely monitor the evacuees' transit, arrival and coordinate their stay.
The 4,800 displaced personnel will remain at MCLB Albany until the destructive weather passes and it is safe for them to return to their homes.
