The fatal shooting happened here at Shackleford Shopping Center. 24 year old Dontavious Luke was one of several people involved in what was believed to have been a gang fight.

He was shot and killed. Fours others, including his brother, were wounded.

"Since the case is possibly gang related, we have a collaborative effort with our robbery homicide unit, to investigate any details that are related to this activity," says Cpl. Prurince Dice, Albany Police Gang Task Force.

The shootings are likely gang related. WALB News 10 has learned that Dontavious Luke was a member of the Westside Rattlers gang and had been arrested several times on charges that include street gang terrorism and 9 counts of aggravated assault.

APD's Gang Task Force was at the scene later this morning looking for more evidence. The murder victim's brother, 28 year old Montravious Luke was shot in the chest and side. 21 year old Whitney Williams was shot in the thigh. 31 year old Cartez Haines was hit in the head with a high heel shoe. 24 year old Kelvin Drake was shot in both of his hands.

As the victims began arriving at the hospital, Phoebe Putney went under lock down to prevent further violence.

"When something happens like this there are going to be several friends and family who are concerned about their loved ones, they probably did come to the hospital but I am not sure at this time whether there was a fight that occurred and that is the hospitals protocol to put the hospital on alert when a situation like that happens," says Investigator Arthur Tyler, Albany Police.

Gordon Hall spent the day cleaning up glass outside his restaurant located in the shopping center where the shootings occurred.

"I'm doing the cleanup and getting prepared for tomorrow so when my customers come, I will be ready to serve," says Gordon Hall, Shabazz Fish Supreme.

His restaurant has been open for 24 years and says this is the first time he has had damage to his store.

"This is a sad situation but this is the thing that occurs here in Albany, and all over the United States, and something has to be done about the violence that is occurring all over the United States," says Hall.

Investigators do not have any suspects at this time. No one has been arrested in Dontavious Luke's murder.

Gang member and shooting victim Dontavious Luke had a long criminal history. Luke was arrested in 2005 and charged with battery.

In 2006, he was arrested on nine counts of aggravated assault, and he was arrested twice in 2009 for disorderly conduct and street gang terrorism.

Luke's most recent arrest was in July 2010 when he didn't show up for court as a witness. According to Luke's Facebook page, he attended Albany State and worked at WalMart.
