For any young married couple, starting a new life together can be overwhelming. But one Albany couple's plan to move into a new home was thwarted by thieves.
Crooks stole Josh and Charity Chapel's utility trailer with nearly all of their belongings. They hope one of you can help them get their stuff back.
The Chapels thought finding a place to live would the hardest thing to deal with. They were staying with family, but before they could even unload their stuff following a move, crooks took advantage.
When Josh and Charity Chapel got married a couple of months ago they packed up their belongings in a trailer and moved back home to Albany from Atlanta.
"We were trying to get settled down career wise. It was going good really until this point. We had all of our stuff in a trailer and somebody took it," said Josh.
The trailer was parked behind the family's business in the 2800 block of Palmyra Road. Thieves took advantage this past weekend and hauled it off with nearly all their belongings inside.
"Furniture, clothes, kitchen stuff, living room, literally everything we had except for a few clothes and a TV."
"It's super disappointing. I have family jewelry heirloom pieces that are in there. It's overwhelming but you can't do too much to control people's actions.," Charity said.
Because the case is a felony Albany Police detectives have taken on the case. They're looking to nearby surveillance cameras to see if they caught the theft on tape. More than $10,000 worth of belongings all gone.
"All those things that are finally ours are now gone. We came here with what we thought would be a steady foundation to build a home on and it's kind of been taken from us," Charity said.
Josh Chapel says he has been able to narrow down when it was stolen. "We were able to narrow it down to a 12 hour window from 8 o'clock Sunday night to 8 o'clock Sunday morning."
The trailer is a Leonard CVS Model with GA tag TLIGH 33. If you see it call Albany Police. It could help this young couple get back on their feet.
And to make matters worse, aside from all the material things stolen, their wedding pictures were also in the trailer. So as you can imagine they really want whoever did this caught and their stuff returned.
Josh Chapel told us whoever stole the trailer likely drove toward Albany.
