Greg Reid is finishing up his first week as a Valdosta State Blazer after being dismissed from Florida State where he helped the Noles on all three sides of the football. You can expect that trend to continue at VSU. Blazers head coach David Dean says Reid will be a busy bee at practice once he gets the corner position down packed.
Fans can expect to see, the now number 24, Reid all over the field on offense as well as special teams. Reid was a preseason candidate for The Paul Hornung Award at FSU presented to the most versatile player in major college football. He has a talent that coach Dean doesn't plan to waist.
Dean said "We've obviously talked about it. He is such a weapon when he has the ball in his hands. Obviously he's going to be a punt returner/kick returner for us. We're going to play him at corner. We'll find ways to get him the ball once he feels comfortable with our defense and knows our terminology and is able to go out and he can move away from the defense for a period or two. We'll put a package together for him."
Reid said "It's football. You're going to have to learn what the coaches want and how they want you to do it. Right now I'm just learning everything and trying to adjust."
VSU fan day is August 25th.
