The Dougherty County Finance committee reviewed last year's budget and met with health officials this morning.

Commissioners reviewed figures from the Special Service District and Solid Waste funds from last year's budget.

The committee's top concerns are to reduce spending, increase revenue and not raise taxes.

Their meeting with every agency and department in the county. Board members from the Dougherty County Health Department told Commissioners the reason their costs have gone up is because in tough times more people use their services.

The finance committee says they must balance the budget at all costs.

"We feel like maybe our contribution to that is somewhere we're going to have too reduce. Whether that's going to end in a reduction or not, I'm not sure," said District 4 Commissioner Ewell Lyle.

The finance board will meet with the Dougherty County Sheriff's Office to discuss their budget Friday August, 31st.
