LOWNDES COUNTY, GA (WALB) -
A Lowndes County woman drowned in her backyard pool.
Sheriff Chris Prine says 60 year-old Betty Welch apparently went for a swim Wednesday night after dark at her home off Highway 41 North in Mineola.
Her husband was out of town. When he couldn't reach her, he called a neighbor who found Welch's body late Thursday afternoon.
