Albany police continue to question suspects tonight after people in a South Albany neighborhood ducked for cover when shots were fired on their street.

Police marked several spent shell casings that dotted the intersection of Poplar Street and Gillespie Avenue just before noon.

Fortunately no one was hit, but neighbors say they were frightened when they heard the gunfire and saw about a half dozen boys running down the street and one boy shooting.

Yashica Brown was on her front porch and saw the group walk past her home.  "They got halfway down here in the middle of the road down her, and then he pulled his gun out and started shooting. Well my boys came out and ran down to see who it was, and ran through here and kept on going, and kept on shooting."

Police caught two suspects minutes after the shooting and took them in for questioning.

No charges have been filed yet. The STAR Program school on West Highland Avenue was locked down after the shooting.
