Fitzgerald's Jemea Thomas is making a bid to play an every down player on the Georgia Tech defense.
Thomas was the Jackets nickel back and saw plenty of action in passing situations.
In the latest depth chart, he is listed as the co-starting cornerback with Louis Young.
Young reportedly may have to sit out the season opener at Virginia Tech.
If he does, Thomas may get the start.
The former Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane is excited about the Jackets' experience on defense this season.
Jemea Thomas said. "It helped a lot. That got my foot in the door. Just put me out there. Let me get the feel of it. It is going to help a lot this year. Just playing my role. Whatever role they throw at me. I am just going with it."
Jemea Thomas is also working on returning punts for Georgia Tech.
Season opener is September 3rd at Virginia Tech.
