THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -
As part of the Victoria Place Urban Redevelopment Project, preparations are being made to move the house from 114 Victoria Place, across from the City of Thomasville Administration building, to 301 Victoria Place.
In its new spot, it will serve the community as a 'one-stop shop' for housing information.
The City was awarded grant funding for this project in the amount of $270,884 as part of the 2011 Community Development Block Grant's Redevelopment Fund.
The 900 square foot structure is scheduled to be moved tomorrow, and once at its new address, will receive a top-to-bottom overhaul, including a 1,500 square foot addition.
The building will feature six offices and a meeting room that will be available for use by the community.
City Planner Lee Chastain said the available office space will serve as a central hub for local nonprofit organizations, providing citizens who are seeking housing information or assistance with easy and convenient access to housing resources in one central location.
The goal of the Victoria Place Urban Redevelopment Project is to revitalize a treasured neighborhood, improve blighted properties, reduce crime, provide affordable housing, and create a better quality of life for those who call the neighborhood home.
