State Representatives Ed Rynders and Jay Powell publicly endorsed fellow Republican Rick Allen for Georgia's Second Congressional District seat this afternoon at the Albany Government Center.

GOP Republican candidate, Rick Allen, is from Columbus, Georgia and is the owner of a small Health Care Supplies business. Allen's campaign, "Limited Government, Unlimited Prosperity," focuses around the reduction of government regulations and spending.

Allen will be in an August 21st GOP Primary run-off which will produce the GOP nominee to oppose Democrat incumbent Sanford Bishop in November.

Both Rynders (R-Albany) and Powell (R-Camilla) have issued statements supporting Allen's campaign.

"Washington has a spending addiction that is costing South Georgia families their jobs," said Representative Rynders. "Reckless federal spending is taking food off of our tables and closing our farms and businesses. Our people want jobs, not handouts. Rick Allen is a proven businessman who supports free enterprise and will fight for smaller, limited government in Washington and that is why he has my enthusiastic support."

"We have good, hard-working people here in South Georgia that can create jobs if the federal government simply leaves them alone," said Representative Powell. "By limiting federal government and ending unnecessary regulations, we can create jobs in South Georgia. Rick Allen is a businessman who supports smaller government and knows what it takes to create jobs. I gladly support Rick's fight to put Washington back on a leash so Georgia can get back to work."

Allen won 42% of the vote in the July 31st GOP Primary and received the full endorsement of fellow Republican candidate Ken DeLoach, who placed third with 26% of the vote.

Any registered voter who voted in the July 31st Republican General primary, or who did not vote in either primary on that day, is eligible to vote in the run-off.
