TC Central head coach Bill Shaver says the Jackets will go as far as its All-State quarterback Adam Choice will take them this year. Choice is just a junior and highlights an experienced cast on offense including running backs DeAndre Cooksey and Damian Williams. The Jackets also bring back their leading receiver from last season, Malcom McClinton.
On defensive Winston Colding, who led the region in tackles, returns for his senior season along Darren Kilgore and Jarrell Jones at linebacker. But coach Shaver says experience alone wont automatically mean success.
Shaver said "It Depends on how we progress. Obviously we have some key positions back. When you have your whole secondary returning, when you have an experienced quarterback and a couple of experienced running backs you feel good at the skills positions so we're counting on them doing that."
Choice said "We're out there working hard so I figure if we all play to the best of our abilities then we'll be just fine."
Codling said "We should do pretty good as long as we don't get the big head you know and work hard everyday. Everything will take care of itself."
The Jackets will scrimmage Jonesboro at home on Friday. The season opener is also at home on August 31st against Thomasville.
