DOUGHERTY COUNTY, GA -

Fire and EMS officials in Dougherty County rescued more than half a dozen people who were stranded on a boat Sunday night.

Fire officials say they got the call around 9:30 pm Sunday that nine people were on a ten foot boat on the Flint River, when the battery went dead and the boat got stuck.

Authorities went out in a fire rescue boat near the 2300 block of Radium Springs Road to search for the stranded boaters.

"The first call initially came in that they were actually north of the dam and the second call came in said that they were actually below the dam and now we figured out where they were. They were actually south of the marine ditch going towards Plant Mitchell," said Battalion Chief Keith Ambrose with the Albany Fire Department.  "So it took us a few minutes to figure out exactly where they were to get our units around."

Once officials were able to locate the boaters they towed them to the Plant Mitchell boat ramp.  The rescued boaters got on land around 10:45 pm Sunday.

Dougherty County Police and DNR rangers were on scene to assist with the rescue.

EMS officials say no one was injured.
