SYLVESTER, GA -
Sylvester police are trying to find two men who broke into a motel room, fired a shot, and hit a man in the head with a pistol.
About 3:00AM, two men broke into a room at the Worth Inn, trying to get money.
25-year-olds Calvin Hooks and Angelique Howard were staying in room 119 at the Worth Inn on U-S 82.
They told police two men kicked in the door and demanded money around 3:00AM.
One of the robbers struck Hooks in the head with a pistol. The gun fired when Hooks struggled to get it away from the robber.
"People could have been injured or shot in this incident. Even the victims themselves or an innocent bystander could have been hurt with the careless use of a gun used in a crime like this," said Detective Kenneth Washington.
The bullet went through the ceiling. The robbers grabbed some cash and took off in a getaway car.
Police are following leads but have made no arrests so far.
