How to save money on expensive college textbooks

Posted: Updated:

Next week many college students head back to campus and they will face a higher tuition bill. A recent study found students spend more than $1100 on textbooks and course materials alone.

There are other options when it comes to those expensive textbooks. Most campus bookstores buy back textbooks for almost a third of what you paid, so you end up losing money at the end of the semester.

Most colleges may have a program where you can rent textbooks instead of buying them.  It's always a good rule of thumb to try and buy used textbooks instead of brand new one's.

You could end up saving $50 to $75 dollars. Another popular thing to do is share textbooks.

It's being reported that students who have the same class, buy the book together and share it throughout the semester.

Check with online stores like Amazon or ecampus.com to find cheaper textbooks as well.
