Albany Police located and arrested 45-year-old Eugene Kennon Jr. last night at 9:00 at the Royal Inn in Albany.

Kennon has been charged with Burglary and Possession of tools for the Commission of a Crime for breaking in to Riverfront barbecue.

Detectives also arrested 36-year-old Jomokenyette Tipton in reference to this burglary.

The burglary happened on Sunday just before midnight. As police arrived to 105 West Broad Avenue, they noticed the lock was cut off the front cooler door.

Surveillance video of the suspects led police to Kennon. A viewer recognized the men swiping three cases of chicken and called the CrimeStoppers tip line.

"We want to stress the importance of a camera system. Because without the alarm system and the camera system we wouldn't have made an arrest as quickly as we did," said APD Lt. James Williams.

Another barbeque restaurant was the target of burglars early Tuesday morning. Around 4:30, someone broke in the front door of Ronnie's Rib and Chicken Shack on Clark Avenue and also stole food.

Police don't believe the cases are connected.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Tipton is encouraged to contact the Albany Police Department's Criminal Investigation Bureau at (229) 431-3288.

Call "Crime Stoppers" at 436-TIPS to remain anonymous.
