FSU pressing forward without Reid

TALLAHASSEE, FL -

Florida State head football coach Jimbo Fisher said at the ACC kickoff two weeks ago he was ready for his Seminoles to start fall practice. The coach got his wish today.  The Seminoles opening fall camp with the mandatory opening practice in helmets and shorts.

Once again there are big expectations in Tallahassee with FSU being the preseason pick to win the ACC and they are ranked seventh in the coaches preseason poll.  Coach Fisher believes this team is mature enough to handle the lofty expectations.

The season is off to rocky start with Fisher dismissing senior corner back and kick returner Greg Reid last week for violating team rules.

Fisher hopes Reid can salvage his career like former Florida Gator Janoris Jenkins.

Fisher said "I don't think it is the end of his career. He can play and reach all the goals he has. I wanted him here as bad as anybody. that is part of this. sometimes being head coach there are a lot of good things and there are some tough things. that is part of it. that was the issue by our standards and our rules. it had to be done."

Fisher also said receiver Rashad Greene is making a speedy recovery from an emergency appendectomy in Albany less that two weeks ago.

FSU opens the season at home September first against Murray State.
