
As usual, Valdosta State splitting their team in half for two practice sessions to start fall camp. The split squads allow players to get more reps and coaches a better chance to evaluate the fitness of veteran players and the talent of new recruits.
VSU enters the season the preseason pick to win the Gulf South Conference. The Blazers are wanting to accomplish that goal and more judging by the number of players who worked out over the summer.
The highest participation numbers since 2007 which was the last year VSU won the D-two national championship.
Head coach David Dean said "We have a cool day today but I think for the most part our guys came in great shape. They were moving around good. We put a lot of pressure on them to play fast today and they did that. It was a high intensity first practice."
Quarterback Cayden Cochran said "We implemented finishing in everything we did this summer. It was a big deal to us because finishing is something we didn't do last year. Every day it is finish, finish, finish and that is what we are going to bring to this camp ".
