VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -
A Valdosta man accused of stabbing an elderly woman and taking off in her car last week is behind bars tonight.
Investigators found Freddrick Tooley in South Florida over the weekend.
His victim says his arrest can finally give her some relief but she hopes he never comes back to Valdosta again.
Eighty-year-old Dorothy Linder says she feel like she's finally free tonight. Twenty one-year-old Freddrick Tooley was found and arrested in Broward County Friday night. The car police say he stole from Linder was also found abandoned.
"It was great relief that he was caught, because as long as he wasn't caught we didn't know if he was going to try and come back or not," said Linder.
Last Tuesday, Linder and her 17-year-old granddaughter, DeAmber, were home when Tooley, a family friend and distant relative, attacked both the women.
Tooley entered through her garage, knocked on her back door, and demanded that he come inside.
Tooley had a butcher knife in his hand and demanded Linder give him cash. Linder says she and DeAmber fought back when he became aggressive and he stabbed Linder, and took off in her car.
Linder says it was important police found him this week.
"I'm glad they caught him before school starts this week, because I would have been very worried about my baby," said Linder.
Valdosta Police still do not know all of the details of Tooley's arrest but are certain he's in jail tonight.
"All we know now is that Mr. Tooley was apprehended in Florida, Broward County. He'll go before a judge today, I don't know if he's got any charges in Broward County or not, we're following up on that," said Lt. Aaron Kirk with Valdosta Police.
As of now, Tooley will be charged with two counts of armed robbery, aggravated assault, and auto theft.
Tooley will be taken to the Lowndes County jail after his court hearing in Florida.
