VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

The largest food bank in South Georgia receives a big donation today from Save-A-Lot grocery stores.

The chain gave $2,500 to Second Harvest in Valdosta.

Representatives from Save-A-Lot are on an 18 city, 2,000 mile road trip to educate people about eating healthier and to give cash to Second Harvest food banks that will get the food in the right hands.

"The donation today of $2,500 should provide about 20,000 meals for local families, and that's just one of the many donations were making. It should be very very helpful," said Alex Frecon with Save-A-Lot food stores.

Save-A-Lot will stop in Albany tomorrow to donate to Second Harvest there.
