Albany radio DJ needs your help to become TV host

Posted: Updated:

Phillip Phillips, John Glosson, and Buster Posey are South Georgians who have taken the national stage by storm. There's no shortage of talented people in our area. We have a story about a local radio DJ who wants to join that elite group of men.

Ali'yiah K-Remy Arnold is a radio DJ at WJIZ. She entered a contest to be the next host of BET's 106 & Park Video Countdown and needs your vote to win.

You've probably heard her voice on the radio. Now meet the lady behind the mic. She was born in New York, but raised in South Georgia. The radio waves called her name at an early age.

"Even back in high school, I started out with a program called Kids In Radio. So I knew upon graduating, I was going to major in Mass Communications and follow up with a radio career," she said.

Ali'yah K Remy Arnold is a mentor, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and former beauty queen. " My platform as Miss ASU was SOUL for ASU. It stood for Student Organizations United and laboring for Albany State University," said Arnold.

Since graduating, she's worked her way up through the ranks at WJIZ. "I have my own show on Sundays. I've had my own show during the week. I do live remote broadcast, production, commercials and community events," she said.

Now K-Remy wants to make the transition from radio to TV. She recently entered a contest to become the next host of BET's 106 and Park Video Countdown. "It's more so about the impact I think I would have if I got this opportunity," said Arnold.

Even though she's up against thousands of others for this job, She wants this to be a lesson to others about always following your dream.

The video with the most tweets and views on you tube could win the job. To watch K-Remy's audition video and learn how to vote click here.
