TURNER CO., GA (WALB) -
A day after a postal carrier was killed at a Turner County intersection, the sheriff has a warning for drivers who use that road.
72-year-old Ann Jones of Sycamore was killed when her pickup truck pulled into the path of a tractor trailer on Highway 32 and Bethel Road.
"She was just one of those people who liked life, wanted to just get out and see people and just enjoyed being here," said Turner County Sheriff Andy Hester.
"A lot of my friends know her. She's just a character when you get around her, you know she has a good spirit to her," he continued.
Skid marks and reconstruction markings still remain at what some would call a dangerous intersection.
Several wrecks have already happened on this road.
"Even when you're running 55 there, when you top the crest of that hill where you would be visible from the intersection, there's only about a 9 or 10 second margin of error there for somebody," said Sheriff Hester.
Now Sheriff Hester has a stern warning out there for drivers so another fatal crash won't happen at that intersection.
"Anything that distracts you from driving, put that stuff aside and pay attention to the highway because it doesn't only mean your safety, it's someone else's too," said Sheriff Hester.
He hopes drivers heed to it.
Sheriff Hester says he is considering putting extra patrol officers at that intersection in hopes to slow down drivers.
Funeral services for Ann Jones will be held Sunday.
