Home schooling is becoming more popular in South Georgia.

Dozens of new families showed up for the open house of the Southwest Georgia Home School Association Friday.

It's the largest of five home school associations in South Georgia, with more than 150 families taking part last year.

This year they expect to double that number, because they say more families want to be involved in giving their children the best quality education possible.

"A lot of it has to do with curriculum. And meeting national standards. Georgia is extremely low, as everyone knows, as far as national standards are concerned," said Tifani Eledge, Home School Assn. P.R. Director.

The association provides certified teachers for specialty classes like trigonometry, business, and Spanish as well as social opportunities for the kids.
