TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

With the organic food revolution in full swing, many people are turning to farmer's markets to get their vegetables.

One of the biggest weekend markets is in Tifton.

There every Saturday morning, the platform at the old train depot becomes a haven for people seeking fresh fruits and veggies.

Dozens of vendors from all over South Georgia offer all types of green produce, but when the crowds flock to the market, downtown merchants see another type of green.

Jack Stone, a businessman in Downtown Tifton said, "it brings a lot of people to town and it helps all the merchants out downtown.  Normally Saturday is sort of a slow day, but with the farmers here it does pretty good."

The downtown Tifton Farmer's Markets run through November and even accepts WIC vouchers. Stone says that the market offers more than just produce, sometimes featuring numerous arts and crafts vendors as well.
