VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

The City of Valdosta's Customer Service Center is bracing for an influx of thousands of requests for utility hookups.

Eight thousand VSU students who live off campus will soon need water and sewer services.

For the first time the city's Customer Service Center is extending its hours and opening on Saturday for the rush of students moving back.

"With 8,000 students living in the off campus area, this gives us a chance to serve them and show them that they are important to us. So the extended hours will hopefully will be convenient for them, and they'll feel that they're receiving the best customer service from our city," said Sementha Mathews with the City of Valdosta.

The Customer Service building on Lee Street will be open until 8 tonight and tomorrow and will open on Saturday from 9 to 2 p.m.
