Braxton Brown, 18, was arrested at 3:30 Thursday afternoon in Americus for the murder of 25-year-old Richard Willis.
Willis was shot around 3:45 AM Sunday outside of the Astro Club on Sunset Park Drive in Americus. Investigators say Willis was shot in the head after an altercation in front of the club.
Willis was from Atlanta.
20-year-old Klinen Carswell was also shot in the lower torso. He is in ICU at Phoebe Sumter hospital.
There were a few hundred people at the club that night.
Sheriff Pete Smith issued this statement-
After receiving numerous tips from the citizens of Sumter County, on today's date, Braxton Bernard Brown, age 18 was arrested without incident and charged with the Murder of Richard Willis and Aggravated Assault on Klinen Carswell in reference to an incident that occurred at 153 Sunset Park Drive, Americus, GA on 07-29-2012.
Mr. Brown and several subjects were located at 522 East Furlow Street, Americus, GA. At the time of the arrest of Brown, Narcotics, cash and a weapon were seized.
Further investigation is pending in reference to this case with possible additional arrests being made.
