TURNER CO., GA (WALB) -
A rural mail carrier is dead after a tractor trailer rig crashed into her pickup truck in Turner County.
The crash happened on Highway 32 at Bethel Road.
Investigators say 72-year-old Ann Jones of Sycamore pulled her pickup truck in to the path of a tractor trailer rig.
Turner County Sheriff Andy Hester called her a "Well known lady in the community wonderful person. Just a tragedy. Of course we hate to see it with anyone of course anyone that is out in the community and everyone knows it impacts the whole community."
Mrs. Jones was not wearing a seatbelt, but mail carriers are not required to.
The truck driver, 31-year old Solomon Harris of Ft. Valley, was taken to a hospital to be checked out.
