A man arrested in Doerun for felony shoplifting gave police a false name. Albany jailers watching WALB News smelled a rat. They knew they had a man with the same name in their custody.

Jail officials notified WALB News of the matter Thursday morning.

The man was taken into custody with his mother, Deborah Pride, for stealing TV sets from the Moultrie Walmart.

He told officers at his name was Roderick Pride, but the real Roderick Pride, the man's brother, was already in the Dougherty County jail.

He was really Antonio Pride, and could face charges of giving a false name, which is a crime.

The Prides were booked into the Colquitt County Jail and face felony theft charges in Moultrie and traffic violation charges in Doerun.

The Colquitt County Sheriff has been notified of the false name, and could bring charges.
