Eight more teachers are waiting to learn their fate following the CRCT cheating scandal in the Dougherty County School System.

Nearly 50 teachers were named in the investigation.  As of Tuesday, a total of ten teachers were cleared and their contracts have been renewed.

Tommy Coleman, the school board attorney says there wasn't sufficient evidence to bring them to a hearing and it's imperative to let these teachers move forward.

"You don't expect, if you're teaching the third grade to end up on the news and be accused of something," said Coleman.  "So I think it's important that we be fair to those people and when there isn't any evidence that we try to get that out of the way as quick as we can."

Coleman says he doesn't believe any of the remaining teachers will be cleared.

"We've think we got sufficient evidence to go forward with these other ones that we have and those who have not resigned or have not pleaded," explained Coleman.

Four tribunal hearings have been held so far. And the remainder of the hearings are scheduled for this month, starting August 10th.
