Eatonton native Vincent Hancock will have the lead going into the finals of men's skeet competition at the London Olympics.
Only six shooters advance to the finals.
Hancock, who won the gold medal in Beijing in 2008, broke the Olympic record with a five round score of 123 in the five rounds of qualifying.
Anders Goldberg of Denmark is one target behind at 122.
Two shooters are at 121.
The finals in the men's skeet competition will start at 9:00 a.m. EDT or 2:00pm GMT Tuesday in London.
No shooter in the history of men's Olympic skeet shooting has ever won two gold medals.
An earlier report on WALB air Tuesday morning that Vincent Hancock may have clinched gold was incorrect since there is the final round of competition Tuesday afternoon.
WALB.com will have updates later today on the finals of men's skeet.
