COFFEE COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

The GBI is investigating the death of an inmate at the Coffee County Jail. 35-year-old Angela Heath was transported from the medical ward of the jail to the hospital where she died last night.

Heath was most recently jailed on prescription fraud charges but the sheriff's office says other charges were being considered.

The death has left family members wondering what happened.

"I don't think she committed suicide, I do not believe that, I don't believe she put paper in her mouth and tried to swallow it and died like that," says Gerald Herrell\Father.

"We have a medical director, and medical staff, and she was being watched, she was being screened for everything we knew of was wrong with her and somehow or another she just decided to take her life," says Sheriff Jerry Pope\Coffee Co. Sheriff's Office.

Heath leaves behind two children.
