Colorado massacre not driving South Georgia gun permits

Posted: Updated:

Cobb County's probate court supervisor reports that applications for gun carry permits have surged in that Metro Atlanta county since the July 20th movie shooting rampage in Colorado.

Many Probate Judges in South Georgia say they are not seeing any dramatic increase in the number of applications for the permit to carry a concealed weapon, but they say they continue to see the same steady demand for the permits. Dougherty County's Probate Court Clerk says they had 25 people request the permits last week, and she is having to work overtime at home to meet all the requests.

Amanda Nobles said "So if I have this stack and I don't get what needs to be done here, sometimes I do take them to the house and finish whatever needs to be done. So just the next day I can send them off to the place where they can go ahead and get them printed."

Probate Court Judges in Lee and Worth Counties reported they also are seeing steady demand for the weapon carry permits, but no dramatic increase in the last ten days because of the Colorado massacre.
