Albany High has one of their best teams in a decade when talking talent and experience.
The Indians are going to need every bit of that having moved up two classifications this year.
Albany High moving up to 1-AAAA where they join many of the schools they played with in 1-AAA some 20 years ago.
The Indians will be led by senior quarterback Emanuel Byrd, running back Quentin Sapp and receiver Andrico Carter.
The defense has junior linebacker Juwon Young and a strong defensive line.
Albany High has doubled their wins for the previous year in each of the last two seasons.
Head coach Felton Williams would love to see that happen this year.
Felton Williams said. "It is going to be a tough challenge. It is not going to be any easy moving from 1-AA to 1-AAAA but I think we are ready for that level of competition."
Emanuel Byrd said. "There are a number of teams we are playing against that we haven't seen. The region they were in was already tough. So, we have a big challenge against better competition. So, we have a big challenge against better competition because AA was hard too. We are going to have a good year this year."
Albany High starts the season with straight road games.
The first is August 31 at Greenville High.
