Most of the other coaches of the new region 1-AAAA believe Monroe is the team to beat with eight starters back on both sides of the football.
That includes quarterback Charles Stafford, receiver Kevin Williams, running back Chris Young and college prospect Hakeem Porter on the offensive line.
The defense will be led by four starters Anthony Smith at linebacker and cornerback Jawaski Randle.
Coach Charles Truitt is glad to have the talent but it takes more than talent to win a region title.
Charles Truitt said. "Yea the potential is here and the experience is here. The schedule is tough. We have got to understand we have got things in place to make it happen but we have to able to execute and make sure it happens each and every day."
Hakeem Porter said. "We have got a chance at region this because most of our players are coming back and they are seniors. We are going to have good possibility at region this year."
Monroe has a tough non region schedule starting at Brooks County on August 31st.
