CAIRO, GA (WALB) - The most decorated Olympic women's basketball player in the world will have plenty of hometown support during Friday's opening ceremonies.

Five time medalist and Cairo native Teresa Edwards is representing the US Olympic Team as the Chef de Mission.

To show their support, the city of Cairo is gathering in the Teresa Edwards gym at Cairo High School to watch the opening ceremonies.

"Teresa has always been a good example for the community and for the children of the community to let them know that anything is possible. You can achieve anything you wish as long as you strive to it and keep your eyes focused on the goal of what you want to do," said Event Organizer Nola Daughtry.

Everyone who shows up Friday night will have the opportunity to film a personal message to Teresa which will be sent to her in London.
